Chasing KPIs gives the illusion of progress.

KPIs create a fiction that you are in control and are making progress.

Yet, most KPIs suggest performance but are not actual performance.  These derivative KPIs make it easy to lose sight of the real performance goal.

So, choose your chases carefully.
